Football Skills: Improving Your Dribbling
Dribbling in football is a technique that a player in possession of the ball uses in order to get the ball past an opponent without losing the ball. This is in essence is something where anything can work as long as you can get the ball past the opponent and it is inside the bounds of normal football law.
There are various different kinds of dribbling and it is not always about getting the ball literally ‘past’ the opponent. You can easily go backwards in to your own half to buy some time before making a pass or a shot. You can also move in to an emptier are to have more move to maneuver. And dribbling can also be sideways.
Pressure avoiding dribbling is the most common dribble that a mid centerfielder can face. Often, it is best to just buy enough time to make a pass to continue the game through a fellow player.
Speed dribbles are best for wing backs because they have enough space to kick the ball and run forward with it while rapidly crossing opponents.
Receiving dribbles work great for putting the opponent’s defense in to a disarray. The trick is to go around your opponent from receiving the ball, which can be really hard to do.
